Tips for choosing an online driving course, parent taught course, or online traffic court ordered program.

1.  Make sure that the program is accepted in your state.  Check both the vendor site and also with your state Department of Motor Vehicles.  More and more states are approving this type of program.

2.  Look for a program that lets you try the course before you purchase--or has sample chapters on their site.  Some companies let you take the course and pay inorder to get the certificate of completion.  Evaluate the easy of understanding of the materials, illustrations of key points, animations of actions such as parking or passing.

3.  Check for customer support on the website, including online support and/or a call in number.

4.  Is there a time limit for completing the course?

5.  Consider supporting material such as sample tests that may be available for an additional fee.  This may be helpful for students who have taken the driver's exam before and not passed it.  Taking sample tests can give them the confidence they need to succeed.
